Sambar Rice


Ingredients:

Rice – ¾ cup.
Toor Dal – ¼ cup.
Oil – 1 tbsp.
Mustard Seeds – ½ tsp.
Cumin Seeds – ½ tsp.
Curry Leaves – 5 to 6.
Green Chillies – 3.
Big Onion – 1.
Tomato – 1.
Hing – little.
Vegetables – as your choice (I prefer Brinjal, Carrot, Drumstick, Raddish, Cauliflower)
Tamarind – small size.
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp.
Sambar Powder – 2 tbsp.
Salt – as required.

Method:

1. Soak rice with dal for 10 – 15 mins.
2. Keep Cooker in stove and add oil, mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, Curry Leaves and Green Chillies.
3. Then add onion and fry it well.
4. Then add tomatoes and fry it.
5. After that add all the vegetables and add 2 cups of water.
6. Let it boil for some time.
7. Extract tamarind water, and add this tamarind water in cooker. (Totally you have to add minimum 4 ½ cup water. Then only you will get nice Sambar Rice.)
8. Then add turmeric powder, Sambar Powder, Hing and salt.
9.Then add the washed rice with dal and keep it for minimum 7 to 8 whistles.

Sambar Rice is ready.
